Hose Truck

Hose Truck

Unit #8828, the Hose Truck is a 1984 one-ton 4x4 Ford Truck. This custom built vehicle is set up to assist with wild land/urban interface (where the city meets the forest) fires where long lengths of hose are required to go from the water source to the location of the fire. These vehicles are commonly used in rural areas and are also known as a mobile water source. It has a portable pump that fills the engines to supply the collapsible 1000 gallon water tank (port-a-tank) and more than 1500 feet of hose.

The system is designed to place the port-a-tank on scene, freeing the other trucks to return to the main water source and supply the port-a-tank as water resources are utilized by the firefighters. This 4-wheel drive vehicle is generally operated by a two man crew.
