PARKS AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE

The Parks and Beautification Committee was established in 2009 by combining two previously existing boards, the Beautification Committee and the Parks Committee, to create a more efficient committee.  Applicants are appointed by the Reedsport City Council for three year terms from within the City of Reedsport.  The duties include advising the City Council on issues concerning citywide beautification and City park properties, recommending amendments to the City Park Master Plan and the City Beautification Master Plan.  This committee meets at least three times annually.  Three representatives also serve on the City's Tree Board. 

  • Established - Resolution 2009-021
  • Appointment - Appointed by City Council.
  • Term – Staggered three-year terms.
  • Size – At least 3 and no more than 5 citizens of Reedsport;
  • Requirements – one member of the City Council; one member of the Planning Commission.
  • Duties   –   Advise the City Council on issues concerning  city wide beautification and City park properties.
  • Meeting Schedule – Second Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. (subject to change)

CITY TREE BOARD

The City Tree Board was established in 1993 by chapter 6.24 of the Reedsport Municipal Code. Applicants are appointed by the Reedsport City Council for three-year terms from within the City of Reedsport. The duties include advising the City Council on issues concerning trees and shrubs in parks, along streets and in other public areas. This board meets as needed. Three members are from Parks and Beautification Committee, one member from City Council and one member from Planning Commission.

  • Established – Reedsport Municipal Code 6.24
  • Appointment – Appointed by the City Council
  • Term – Staggered three-year terms.
  • Size – Five members; three members from the City’s Beautification Committee; one member from City Council; and one member from the Planning Commission.
  • Requirements – All interested citizens.
  • Duties – Advise the City Council on issues concerning trees and shrubs in parks, along streets and in other public areas.
  • Meeting Schedule – As needed, in conjunction with the City's Beautification Committee.
