This board was established in 1999 as a requirement of state statutes. Applicants are appointed by the Mayor to three year terms and ideally consist of members representing the building construction industry, specifically framing, plumbing, electrical, foundations, with the building official serving as an ex officio, nonvoting member. The duties are to enforce, on behalf of City Council, the preservation of public peace, health and safety. Meetings are held as needed.

- Appointment – Appointed by the Mayor.
- Term – Three-year term.
- Size – Seven positions.
- Requirements – Appointed committee positions shall represent the building construction industry, specifically framing, plumbing, electrical, foundations, with the building official serving as an ex officio, nonvoting member.
- Duties – To enforce on behalf of City Council the preservation of public peace, health and safety.
- Meeting Schedule – As needed.
