Planning Commission

The Planning Commission was established in 1998 as a requirement of State Statutes.  At least five members of the Planning Commission must be City of Reedsport residents.  Two members may be non-City of Reedsport residents, but either reside within the Urban Growth Boundary or have ownership of property within the City limits. Applicants are appointed by the City Council to four year terms.  The planning Commission functions primarily as a comprehensive planning body by proposing policy and legislation to the City Council and implementing regulations relating to growth and development of the community.  Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm and additionally as needed.   

  • Established - City Ordinance 98-275-D.
  • Appointment - Appointed by City Council.
  • Term – Staggered four-year terms.
  • Size - Seven members.
  • Requirements - At least five members of the Planning Commission must be City residents. Two members may be non-City residents who either reside in the Urban Growth Boundary or have ownership of property within the City limits.
  • Duties - Propose policy and legislation to the Council. Implement regulations relating to growth and development of the community.
  • Meeting Schedule – Monthly and additional meetings as needed.

Public Meetings Law Grievances

The City of Reedsport is committed to conducting all meetings in compliance with Oregon’s Public Meetings Law (ORS 192.610–192.690). Members of the public who believe the City has not followed these requirements may file a grievance.
